Palliative Care

Dr. Jose Pereira wanted to develop a course on end-of-life care that would: (1) reach and connect healthcare providers (including nurses, palliative care specialists, spiritual care workers, and pharmacists, etc.) across Alberta (2) model a holistic approach to patient care.  The result -‘Palliative Care’; An online course for healthcare professionals.  The course reflects an authentic, interdisciplinary, case-based approach to patient care and embraces active learning strategies.

  • Draft and develop needs assessment and evaluative surveys online
  • Evaluate program delivery (surveys, focus groups)
  • Interview course facilitators to ensure “best fit” with respect to teaching style
  • Redesign course integrating changes based on feedback
  • Redevelop course online using a new learning management system
